REMOVE WAX OFF YOUR CARPET WITHOUT IRON

Wax on your carpet after that great candle light dinner you had? Do not panic, removing wax from carpets is not a big deal, if done properly and fast.

All that you need, are:

  • A blunt blade knife, like a butter knife
  • A hand-held vacuum cleaner
  • Clean cloth, paper towels, or brown paper bags
  • A hair dryer, or a flat bottomed pot of hot water.
  • Rubbing Alcohol/ Surgical spirit
  • Trigger spray bottle
  • Sponges
  • Water and
  • Weights ( pile of books)


How to Remove the Wax

  1. Scrape off hardened wax with the knife as much as possible.
  2. If the wax is soft, rub ice cubes to harden it.That would make scraping easier.
  3. Vacuum clean the residue of your scrape off.
  4. Cover the wax affected area with the cloth/paper towel/ brown paper bag (without print)
  5. Either use a hair-dryer, set it on high and blow over the cloth/paper. Make sure to cover the entire surface evenly, or, place the flat bottomed tub of hot water over the piece of cloth/paper/bag
  6. This will melt the wax and get absorbed by the coth/paper/bag.
  7. When done, lift the cloth/paper/bag from the area.
  8. Repeat the process, changing the cloth/paper/towel, until there is no wax.

If your candle, was colored, the dye would remain on the carpet. To remove that stain.

  1. Apply some rubbing alcohol on a towel, dab on the spot lightly, so that the carpet fibers do not absorb it.
  2. Blot it out with a fresh towel and repeat until removed completely.
  3. Rinse the area with water and sponge
  4. Blot with paper towels to absorb extra moisture.
  5. Cover the area with a stack of paper towels and pile on weights( books).
  6. Leave on for several hours, to dry it.
  7. Remove the weights and leave to air dry
  8. Vacuum clean to restore texture.

Additional Tips

  • Be careful not to let the hot surface of the dryer or the pot to touch the carpet as it might fizzle the fibers.
  • Use better quality of candles that do not drip avoid colored petroleum candles.
